And how to complete your festival look? A tan, of course.

Preparing for a festival can be pretty daunting. There is the tent, sleeping bag and pillows to remember if you are camping, but the primary concern for most of us is our appearance.

The media’s growing enthusiasm for celebrity festival Vox Pops has added extra pressure on what we should or shouldn’t wear, compelling us to look as good as possible.

The British weather adds an extra wardrobe strain: the BBC forecast for this weekend’s V Festival showed torrential rain gushing from black clouds, which meant two outfits a day - we Brits are optimistic, and prayed for good weather.

Et Voila! Our prayers paid-off and, for the best part of the weekend, the sun was out, as were the limb-bearing clothes. Ergo the common consensus was ‘quick – lets get a tan.’

Gail Porter was the first client to enter St. Tropez’s yurt in the Virgin Media Louder Lounge, just before it opened at midday on Saturday. The slimmed -down celebrity had St. Tropez Skin Illuminator applied to her cheekbones, décolletage, arms and pins, which were out on display thanks to her cut-off denim shorts.

Very short shorts and micro-mini, body-conscious dresses were the most popular choice of clothing for the girls this year. These were worn with either: wellies and socks protruding the top, or short biker boots. Needless to say the ‘Perfect Leg’ treatment was high on the list of requests – it combines a gradual self-tan with a bronzing element for an immediate golden glow. Eighteen-year-old twins Joan and Jean walked off in unison comparing their identical tans, on their identical legs - very cute indeed.

The queues of people waiting for the St. Tropez treatment didn’t subside until the skin perfecting experts packed up at the end of the day. Other celebrity fans that popped by included: Billie Piper, Emilia Fox, Coleen Rooney, Drew Barrymore, Dr Who’s Karen Gillan, Jodie Harsh and Zoe Salmon.

“We haven’t stopped all day, said St. Tropez skin finishing expert, Abbi Hollins. The most popular treatment has to be the spray tan. We have done two treatments every fifteen minutes, from start to 6.30pm.” Wow, that is impressive.

On Sunday we experienced some showers, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. People either ran for cover, continued dancing, or sat on blow-up Louder Lounge chairs whilst holding another over top, like an impromptu umbrella (pictured).

It was refreshing to see that it wasn’t only females hankering after a boost of colour. Male customers included the extremely animated Gerry Cottle (pictured). He described his ‘Pop Princess’ treatment of Wash Off Instant Glow as “stimulating and magical.” He had Virgin Louder Lounge guests giggling as he ran from the yurt in his underwear - obviously intent on showing off his immediate tan, and why not?
