THE '3-D' TAN FROM ST.TROPEZ
Inspired by 1990s Versace campaigns and showcased on catwalk muses at Louise Goldin S/S 2010, the tan is back with a vengeance - but this time it’s detailed, it’s tailored and it’s a modern take on the traditional tan…
The common theme running throughout the spring summer collections was attention to detail with the clothes, the make-up and the hair styled to perfection. The canvas for all these things, the body, was no exception and this season it was viewed and treated as an extension of the face, with equal amounts of effort being put into a variety of finished effects. Skin was healthy, glowing and strong, with references ranging from ‘Nordic surfer ice queens’ to 'solarised' and otherworldly skin as seen at Marios Schwab.
Whatever the reference though, skin needed more than just a one-dimensional, flat application of self-tan, resulting in the birth of a new trend – a ‘3D tan’ with depth, dimension and definition. Think of it as the tailored fashion tan for spring/summer 2010.
“Definition and depth through tanning products enhances skin tones in an alluring way by lengthening limbs and contouring the back, shoulders and stomach. And now creating richly tanned skin has never been easier thanks to a combination of products like Everyday Body or Wash Off Mousse, which help to lift the skin. A final layering of St Tropez’s NEW Skin Illuminator Cream for added dimension through the use of highlighting key areas, is the latest beauty trend to hit the catwalk.”
