Sally and the global Product Development team ensure that we deliver market leading self tanning and skin finishing products time after time.

After studying Linguistics at Manchester University her focus moved to Marketing but her love and knowledge of the Beauty Industry soon led her to focus on this category and get actively involved in creating beauty products. Following extensive, valuable experience at Alliance Boots head office which included roles in Brand Management, sourcing, design and of course product development she joined the St. Tropez Team.

As lead for our global Product Development team her role involves creating all St. Tropez products – from the idea right through to production. The bit in between includes working with design agencies, photographers, scientists, key make-up artists and fashion designers. Our products are featured in high profile publications, receive extensive awards and accolades both in the and US and we have become involved in creating bespoke products for London Fashion Week too.....as you can imagine, a typical day for Sally is pretty exciting!

 

Sally's Hints & Tips

Skin – Skin – Skin!! Having a great canvas is the key to enable the products to work and look their best.

As we are a Global brand we work with people in the Far East - which means really early meetings, through to The USA at the back end of the day – it keeps every day totally different to the one before! A typical day will usually include testing of new formulations – I constantly have brown blobs on my skin! I will also see one of our Graphic Designers to review new designs, and most importantly meet with Manufacturers and the teams from the lab’s to see how projects are progressing – it’s great!

1. Tan Detox – this is a great product for delivering the perfect skin to tan! This is an example of how customers fed back to us about needing a product like this and us searching for over a year for the perfect solution.

2. Self Tan Mousse – This is my favourite product and the reason I wanted to work for the brand! It is such a natural colour and very easy to apply!
 

The ideas for new products come from absolutely everywhere – customers are constantly telling us what they would like to see. We monitor trends – involvement in Fashion Week twice a year is great for this. Market Data and of course the whole team at St. Tropez. But sometimes it really is just a ‘light bulb moment’!! The idea becomes a reality as we brief the Lab’s and the Scientists who bring the product to life. We pride ourselves on the rigorous testing we carry out – both in the lab situation and through user trials on consumers.
