St. Tropez Takes Skin into The Future for A/W 2010 at Louise Goldin

Louise Goldin’s Autumn/Winter catwalk show was themed ‘The Future of Military.’ And St. Tropez, the show’s sponsor and backstage beauty partner, was there to demonstrate the future of beauty.

It is so old fashioned to assume a tan is just for summer: once the tights go on we often neglect our bodies until we see the first throws of spring. If this sounds familiar, then it’s time to get rid of the old and usher in the new!

Nichola Joss, one of the world’s leading skin experts, believes: “an immaculate skin finish is just as important in the winter, because the light is so harsh.” So, for the second season running, models lined up backstage at Goldin’s show for the St. Tropez treatment.

First a light mist of St. Tropez Wash Off Mousse was applied to even out skin tones and blemishes, giving the girls’ a healthy glow that radiated under the flash-lights. Added to the top of this pristine canvas was a new gold skin illuminator cream that’s so hot, it’s yet to be named. Joss is calling this magic potion a ‘Skin Transformer’ – which was applied to the knuckles, décolletage, upper and forearms.

This product was created specifically by St. Tropez for the show and was inspired by original Goldin’s sketches, ensuring that catwalk skin complemented the grassy green colour and structured ‘robotic’ shapes of Goldin’s collection.

“The look is a very pure, moisturised, iridescent glow,” said Louise Goldin, ahead of the show. ‘It was great to develop the skin finish along with the development of the clothes - so I always had the whole image of the girl in mind from the very onset.”

For hair, Paul Shannon took his influence from ‘horror girls’ (think Stephen King’s Carrie): “This season we have kept hair simple,’ he told me, ‘because the collection is quite extreme we wanted something cooler than in past seasons.”

“We have parted the hair so that one side hangs down covering the face; and I sprayed a heavy dose of hairspray at the back of the head, making the hair stick to the neck. It is quite rock ‘n’ roll.”

Hell, it seems that at Louise Goldin - rock ‘n’ roll girls can do healthy too – thanks to St. Tropez! Val Garland complemented her gunmetal doe-eyes by applying the St. Tropez gold illuminator in a C-shape around the eyes: “I wanted the girls to look like ethereal, dark fairies in the wood,” she said.

O.P.I created clean nails for the show: “We applied our hero product Clear and Strengthen to ‘sqoval’ nails [that’s a square and oval hybrid folks], then we are adding oil to the cuticle and nail for that lasting shine,” said Niki Byrne from O.P.I.

And so these futuristic creatures were ready to walk out onto the catwalk to dreamy music that gained momentum leading up to the finale backless gown, which showed off the future of skin a treat.
